Versailles Palace, also known as The Château de Versailles, is located in the town of Versailles, about 20 kilometers outside of Paris. Versailles is one of the most popular attractions in Paris with lots to see aside of the main palace – seasonal exhibitions, spectacular gardens, amazing fountains, Grand Trianon Palace and Marie Antoinette’s estate, but there are some important tips before things visiting Versailles palace:

Versailles is generally open Tuesdays through Sundays, On Mondays the palace itself is closed (the gardens are open)

Versailles palace is amazing, inside and out and there are self guided (audio) tours available in several languages
From time to time, the palace hosts a special art exhibit which is also included on the audio tour as well.

Queues are incredibly long – on weekends or public holidays you might spend up to 3 hours in order to visit the palace and close to an hour for the rest of the attractions.

Unfortunately the queue problem applies to the toilet facilities on ground.

Avoiding the queues: You MUST have your ticket BEFORE you get in the line to enter. You can purchase the tickets online at http://en.chateauversailles.fr,

Note that the palace is included in Paris Pass so it is much more economical to buy the pass instead of paying 25 Euro per ticket.

Make sure to avoid Tuesdays and Sundays as they are the busiest days

You have to get there early. Try to arrive as early as possible, to avoid the insane queues

I recommend taking the train (RER). It is cheap and fast. Since it’s close to Paris, you can always take a nice bike ride from Paris via Bois de Bologne and Parc St Cloud to the palace (Only recommended if you are physically fit)

Food: several pricey cafeterias are found in Versailles, it might be wise to prepare sandwiches and drinks in the nearby town of Versailles and have a picnic in the gardens.

Side note: food is not allowed inside the Versailles castle.

Here are Versailles palace pictures:

Eiffel tower address: Avenue Gustave Eiffel, 75007 Paris, France ‎

There are 3 levels in Eiffel Tower, the first two can be accessed by stairs or by elevators (In any case, there is a separate entrance and much shorter queue for the stairs so this is a really good idea) and the final third level can only be accessed by an elevator (this is where the long queue kicks in).

Tickets can be purchased at the tower and now also online so you can reserve for a specific date and time. Tickets are sold at half hour time slots which, ideally can cut wait time to 30 minutes.

Enjoy the wonderful sunset view and have the chance to take amazing photos! Another option is to be there after sunset to see the amazing lights across the city. If you travel by bus, make SURE you check the time of last departure!

CDG (Charles de Gaulle, also known as Roissy Airport) – France’s largest and most important airport, located 25km (16 miles) northeast of Paris.

There are several means of transportation available to/from CDG airport, whether you are heading to Orly or Beauvais airports, Disneyland or Paris city itself.

Both Air France and SNCF run buses to/from the center of Paris, the fair is around €10 – €20.

Trains are quicker than buses and perhaps more convenient, especially the super-fast TGV from Aérogare 2 (Terminal 2), which gets you to central Paris in no time at all. Another train service, the RER, takes a little longer but it connects to the Paris Métro (subway).

Taxis are even more convenient, but you will pay considerably more for the pleasure. Still, if you’re interested, be aware that Paris taxi drivers have the option to accept up to 3 passengers if they wish. This poses a problem if you are a medium sized family.

Perhaps the easiest method of transportation overall is a shuttle transfer: pre-book a pick-up and all you have to do is turn up at the airport. Again, such convenience comes at a price, but you might well feel it is worth it to get you to the comfort of your hotel quickly without the hassle of carrying your own luggage after a hectic flight.

Here is Charles de Gaulle Airport map:

Charles de Gaulle Airport map

Paris airport transportation is very diverse and if you’re planning a trip to Paris, you’ll be happy to know that there are a variety of Paris Airport transportation options available to you upon landing. When searching for a flight, you’ll probably find that there are three airports in Paris to choose from, though all three are technically located outside of Paris. They are Charles De Gaulle Airport, Orly Airport, and Beauvais Airport. Depending on where you’re coming from and how much money you’re spending on your flight, you’ll arrive at a different airport. But no matter which you land at, Paris airport transfers will be easy.

If you’re arriving in Paris from an international location, chances are you’ll be coming into Charles De Gaulle Airport, known in short as CDG Airport, as it receives the most passenger traffic of all airports in France. Because it’s such a huge airport, there are many convenient options available for CDG Airport transfers to your hotel or final destination in Paris. The airport has internal stations for the RER B line and the TGV, so you can get CDG Airport transfers to either of those lines directly from within the terminals. Additionally, there is a bus called Roissybus that departs from CDG and goes straight into the heart of Paris. CDG Airport transfers are the easiest of all Paris airports.

Easy Paris Airport transportation is also available for those arriving in Orly Airport. Orly is the second most trafficked airport in France. Before CDG, Orly Airport was France’s central airport. To get to Paris from Orly, many passengers take the Orlyval shuttle train to Antoni station, then switch to the RER B line towards Paris. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle bus from Orly Airport to Point de Rungis and transfer to the RER C line, if that line is more convenient for your final destination. For buses, you can take the Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau station, which is located in central Paris, or city buses 285 and 183.

If you’re flying on a budget airline, (likely from another European location) you might arrive in Beauvais Airport. One of the most popular ways to get from Beauvais Airport to central Paris is on the Beauvais Airport shuttle. It takes under an hour and a half and drops you off at Porte Maillot. Additionally, there are other private coaches and minibuses that offer competitive prices and different drop-off locations.

Regardless of which Paris Airport transportation option you choose, it’s a good idea to check routes and schedules to find one that matches your needs best. Airports can be stressful places, so plan ahead!

It used to be France’s only major airport before Charles de Gaulle Airport was opened in 1974 (which handles about 60 million passengers a year). Orly Airport is currently the second busiest airport overall in France. It has two terminals (West and South) connected by a Paris Orly shuttle train called Orlyval. Orlyval extends beyond the airport, connecting Orly to the RER trains that travel through Paris and beyond.

There are a wide variety of ways to get from Paris Orly Airport to central Paris, so you’ll be able to pick among many for the one that works best for your destination. The airport is easily accessible with the aid of RER B and C train lines. You can take a Paris Orly shuttle bus to Point de Rungis and then transfer to the RER C line there. The cost for the Paris Orly Shuttle bus is less than three euros to this location, but you have to transfer and buy another ticket to your final destination at the station. Alternatively, you can take the Orlyval Paris Orly shuttle train to Antoni station and get on the RER B line towards Paris. It costs ten euros to get to Antoni and the price stays near this if you continue into central Paris.

If you’re looking for Paris Orly Airport transfers to central Paris without taking a train, there are also many buses that operate services between Orly and various areas in Paris. You can take a service called Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau station (located in central Paris) for about seven euros. City buses numbered 285 and 183 also provide service from Paris to Orly Airport. There are also car rental services that are available from the time the first flight of the day lands until the last flight of the day. And just as with any other airport, you can of course take a taxi to your final destination, although this is likely to be the most expensive option. Whatever the case, Paris is easily accessible from Paris Orly Airport.

Beauvais Airport is a very good alternative to the commonly used Paris airports, especially if you are looking for a lower-cost, alternative option.

Many people who are traveling to Paris or making Paris transfers fly into Charles de Gaulle Airport or Orly Airport, which are the two major airports servicing Paris. But if you’re looking for a lower-cost, alternative option, flying into Beauvais Airport (sometimes called Paris Beauvais Airport) is a great idea.

Many major European cities have airports located a bit outside the city center which may be a lot more economical than flying into a major airport, and Beauvais Airport is the one that serves Paris. Discount airlines such as RyanAir, WizzAir, and Blue Air all fly into this airport, usually at a much lower cost than major airlines flying to larger airports. For travelers looking for a cheaper way to visit Paris, this is a great option. Sometimes discount airlines have special deals to fly in for only a few euros! Since the airport is located a bit further outside the city than other options, when comparing prices you’ll need to add the cost of transportation from Beauvais to Paris (for example, via a Beauvais shuttle) to your budget. But chances are that even with this cost (less than 20 euros, most likely), flying into Beauvais and then taking a Beauvais shuttle will be much more economical.

If you’re worried about how to get into Paris or make Paris transfers from Beauvais Airport, there’s no need. There are many ways to get into the city center, including Beauvais shuttle services, private coaches, minibuses, taxis, or the nearby train. The cost for the official Beauvais Airport shuttle is 15 euros per person, and free for children under 3 years old. There are also car rental services available from the airport, but you should book these 24 hours in advance.
Here is a link to Beauvais airport

The trip from Paris Beauvais Airport to Paris via the Beauvais shuttle takes under an hour and a half, but the exact time depends on the traffic during that time of day. It arrives at Port Maillot in Paris, and departs from this same location if you’re planning on flying out of Beauvais when your Paris trip is over. If you’re making Paris transfers, consider flying into Beauvais if you have the time. It’s likely to be much cheaper, and Beauvais Airport offers flights to many other destinations in Europe. Or, if you’re planning a trip to Paris Disneyland, there is a Beauvais shuttle that can take you directly there from Beauvais Airport. The options are diverse, so no matter what your needs, you’ll find an easy way to get where you need to go!
